Rumours on social media suggest that Cremora creamer may be discontinued in South Africa. Here’s the latest news from the Nestlé brand.
South Africans are worried after hearing that coffee and tea creamer Cremora, a Nestlé brand, has been withdrawn in their nation.
But how accurate are these reports?

Is Cremora no longer available?
Last week, social media users tweeted that Cremora, a well-known and beloved brand in many South African households, will be discontinued at local supermarkets.

Nestlé, on the other hand, acted fast to refute this claim.

The business did admit that it had sold Cremora, which had been on SA shelves for the previous 80 years, to a French company.
Nestlé announced in a statement that “Following a meticulous evaluation process, Nestlé has decided to sell the Cremora business to Lactalis South Africa (SA), pending regulatory approval.” Lactalis is a 90-year-old worldwide food firm.

“In South Africa, the company is home to quality and trusted brands such as Président, Parmalat, Melrose, Steri Stumpie and Bonnita; with operations in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal.”

Nestlé also stated that the welfare of their employees will remain a “top priority”. They would ensure this during the transition period, providing “assurances that job security, remuneration, and benefits will remain unaffected.”

According to MoneyWeb, one in every five coffee drinkers in South Africa preferred Cremora, which competes directly with Ellis Brown.

While Cremora is here to stay, many South Africans have seen their favourite brands disappear from store shelves.
